Approval/ABE Wind deflector

Climair wind deflectors are developed, produced and technically tested in Germany for specific vehicle models. Climair is one of the few manufacturers that provides the driver with an ABE for almost all of its rain and wind deflectors (US vehicles are excluded). No other manufacturer of wind deflectors makes this effort.

There are suppliers who sell wind deflectors for a few euros less, but these do not have an ABE and you then have to have the wind deflectors registered (if this is possible at all, as otherwise your vehicle operating license will expire and you may also lose the insurance cover for your vehicle). There are costs for such registrations (approx. 80-200 euros) and you have to go to the TÜV, Dekra or another testing organization. If the registration has actually worked, you will then have to go to the registration office to have your vehicle documents changed! Do you really want to do this?

The Climair wind deflectors supplied by us are developed, produced and technically tested in Germany and are approved in accordance with the applicable road traffic licensing regulations (StVZo).
So - no registration, no trip to the registration office, you save money and a lot of time - simply clever thanks to ABE (general operating license).

The road traffic licensing regulations say:
Side-mounted air deflectors (wind deflectors, front doors) without a corresponding approval are not permitted.

This means that the wind deflector offered with the instructions:

- tested
- TÜV tested
- approved
- certified

are not automatically eligible for registration or are permitted per se. Without an ABE (general operating permit) or expert opinion for registration, the vehicle registration/operating permit and the vehicle's insurance cover expire.

When purchasing, make absolutely sure that your wind deflectors for the front doors have an ABE, as you are liable for them!

What must the marking on the wind deflector look like?
The front wind deflectors are plugged in - not glued - and can withstand high loads. Make sure that wind deflectors offered with ABE have a corresponding marking on the wind deflectors themselves. The KBA no. KBA 90389 type: A Climair must be embossed or be present in the original logo on a non-destructively removable sticker.

Location of the marking:
Embossed, embossed from the inside on the lower front corner and legible from the inside.
Sticker, on the upper corner at the highest point of the wind deflector in the direction of travel and legible from the outside.
